The ability to manage emotions is critical for academic achievement, school readiness, and both physical and mental health. Without emotion regulation skills, youth are unable to establish positive student-teacher and peer-to-peer relationships. In addition, If youth are unable to express themselves or manage their feelings in age-appropriate ways, they also risk social rejection.
Youth who lack the ability to regulate their emotions are also more likely to experience depression, anxiety and to engage in substance abuse, self harm and risk taking behaviour.
The emotional, social and physical development of young children has a direct effect on their overall development and on the adult they will become. That is why understanding the need to invest in young children is so important, so we canminimise dysfunctional behaviour and maximize their future well-being.
The Psych Circuits embrace the insights of neural plasticity and emotion regulation in order to foster better physical, mental and emotional health whilst managing maladaptive behaviours. This unique way of programming seeks to educate and engage young people, including those from the most disadvantaged backgrounds, in productive activities that REPROGRAM unhealthy thought patterns and REGULATE challenging emotions.
